A recent study shows that using AI at work only leads to a 3 percent increase in efficiency. Compare that with how a single task can be boosted by up to 300 percent. There’s clearly room for improvement.
The figure comes from NBER, based on self-reported productivity gains from using generative AI. Just 3 percent.
Meanwhile, other studies point to a completely different level of potential:
Stanford & The World Bank: Productivity can increase by up to 300 % for specific tasks, such as customer support.
Harvard Business School: One AI-assisted individual performed on par with an entire non-AI-supported team.
McKinsey Global Institute: Generative AI could contribute $2.6 to $4.4 trillion annually to the global economy.
So why aren’t we seeing those numbers in daily operations?
Because AI simply isn’t being used in a way that reflects its potential:
KPMG: 58 % globally say they use AI at work.
BCG: Only 11 % use AI daily. And as a specific example, in Sweden, that figure is as low as 4 %.
KPMG: 70 % rely on free, unsanctioned tools—often without support from IT or leadership.
The bottom line? There's huge value to unlock, but only if AI is used deliberately, not sporadically. That requires smart integration of both technology and human expertise into real workflows.
One of the most effective areas to apply this is in content-led marketing and sales.
That’s where KontentPlus can help. We make AI a natural part of your content processes – secure, efficient, and fully tailored to your business. Through our own interface, with human input in every step and a clearly structured, iterative approach.
And it works. In one of our recent cases, we helped a client boost both traffic and awareness by 75–85 percent in a short timeframe.
With the right approach, 3 percent is just the beginning.
